Failed presidential candidate Senator Elizabeth Warren is trying to exploit the coronavirus emergency. Here’s her tweet from this afternoon.
She ran for president with cancelling student loan debt as a big plank in her platform. This policy and her candidacy were rejected by the Democratic Party and by the rest of the country. Now she is trying to attach her failed policy as a rider to an important spending package.
The coronavirus is a fast spreading disease which needs quick, decisive action to combat. Emergency bills need to be narrowly tailored to the specific issue at hand. Sen. Warren’s incessant request to go outside the narrow scope of relief for the virus is highly improper, and trying to add such a rider to achieve a policy victory after such a resounding defeat of that policy is entirely selfish.
And considering in this specific case that lives are actually on the line, Senator Warren’s actions are despicable. Thank God she won’t be president.
