Nominee For Political Quote Of The Year

Our latest nominee for political Quote Of The Year comes from the always entertaining Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat nominee for congress in New York and someone who Democrat National Committee Chairman Tom Perez called the “the future” of the Democrat Party. Here is her quote regarding healthcare in America.

“We — Americans have the sticker shock of healthcare as it is, and what we’re also not talking about is, why aren’t we incorporating the cost of all the funeral expenses of those who died because they can’t afford access to healthcare? That is part of the cost of our system.” –Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The context of this quote is it comes from her defense of the price tag associated with government-run single-payer healthcare. She was asked by CNN’s Chris Cuomo about the “sticker shock” of tax payers, meaning the reaction people give when the costs of Ocasio-Cortez’s plan for healthcare is quantified. She acknowledged that there is “sticker shock,” but then proceeded to explain, or tried to explain, that the current system is more costly, which it’s not. She actually tried to explain that funeral costs are part of today’s healthcare costs. They, of course, are not. And another huge of course is, funeral costs won’t go away because everyone, wait for it, eventually dies. Even George Washington died.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has no idea what she is talking about. The best thing she can do for America is to keep talking. The more live interviews she does, the better. We believe that the DNC will eventually convince her to shut up and we won’t have the joy of seeing anymore live interviews from her until after the election. Hopefully she will be stubborn and continue to talk, unedited. We can only hope so.
