No Joy In Mudville

Today was supposed to be Opening Day for Major League Baseball. But teams have wisely shut down for now. A few, temporary changes are needed, and this one didn’t need the government to force them to close.

Professional sports right now just won’t work. The coronavirus is a serious pandemic that deserves to be taken seriously. Going to the ball park with 30,000+ fans would be one of the worst places to go to for the next several weeks (that’s weeks, not months).

The private sector is responding. Consumers are adjusting. I get it and I’m not upset, but I miss sports. And this baseball season is going to be an exciting one. Did I mention the Washington Nationals are defending World Series Champions? That’s plenty exciting.

No new date has been announced. Soon would be good, but at a safe time is the only time to resume play. When that is? I don’t know.
