My Ballot Is In The Box…

…Or so to speak as my Absentee Ballot has been mailed to the local registrar’s office. Here are some of my votes.

Elliott Harding for State Senate
Full disclosure; Elliott is a friend. He’s a good guy who I trust. So there’s that, but more to the point on policy, I voted for Harding because he is a libertarian leaning conservative who certainly represents my policy positions much better than the longtime incumbent Creigh Deeds. Harding stands for classical conservative values such as less government regulation and more individual freedom. He’ll vote to lower taxes, reduce spending, and cut waste, all of which his opponent won’t do. And Harding has a lot of new angles to pursue conservative policies. For example, when Harding worked for Representative Tom Garrett he helped craft legislation that was a brilliant long-term plan to help alleviate student debt that would directly help keep social security solvent. Elliott Harding is a solid candidate. He will serve Virginia well in the General Assembly.

Rob Bell for Delegate
Bell is a law and order conservative. His prosecutor background gives him a wealth of knowledge in criminal justice. He is tough on crime, tough on government spending, and tough on defending Virginia’s Constitution. Bell enjoys high marks from conservative watchdog groups such as, VCDL- 100%, Family Foundation- 100%, American Conservative Union- 97%. Liberal organizations give Bell low marks such as, NARAL- 0%, and Virginia AFL-CIO- 9%. Most importantly, Bell serves as chairman of the Courts of Justice Committee, which is a major position key to the selection of judges throughout the commonwealth. We want someone like Bell selecting our judges. Rob Bell is an easy vote for Delegate.

Robert Tracci for Commonwealth’s Attorney
I love the term “no-nonsense prosecutor” because implies a contrast that usually isn’t there. But in this race there is a significant contrast that could be boiled down to that overly used term. Here is just one example; last year Albemarle County Jail Board was contemplating becoming a sanctuary city by refusing to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when a detained or arrested individual is released. Tracci jumped all over this and told the jail board that the law is the law is the law and localities do not have the discretion to make the decision to not comply with the law. Tracci led the way on this and the board eventually voted down any new procedures that would make Albemarle County a sanctuary for illegal activity. Democrats wanted this. A Democratic Commonwealth’s Attorney would have been okay with it. Robert Tracci respects the law and will enforce it; I am proud to have voted for him.
