Fairfax Cop Suspended For Helping ICE

A Fairfax County police officer has been suspended for assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler Jr. announced the suspension today. The chief stated that the reason for the suspension was that working with ICE was against the department’s “longstanding policy.”

From The Washington Times

The chief said the officer was working a traffic accident in the Huntington section of the county on Sept. 21 and came across someone without a driver’s license. When the officer ran the name it returned a flag from ICE, which said the migrant was a fugitive after failing to appear for a deportation hearing.

The suspect had an outstanding warrant and yet the police officer was suspended for following through on that warrant. This is unbelievable.

Here we see that liberal Democrats, who control the Board of Supervisors in Fairfax, and the far-left sheriff, have turned Fairfax County into a sanctuary city. The policy that Chief Roessler believes is more important than his officers’ lawful work allows for his police department to look the other way on immigration, which is a horrible policy, but suspending someone for following the law is a twisted perversion of that policy.

Immigration law is the law and local police shops do not have the discretion to enforce which law it wants when it wants.

The law should supersede any unlawful and poorly conceived policy. This is nuts. Chief Roessler needs to resign over this. If he doesn’t then he needs to fired.
