Page Defies House Subpoena

Lisa Page failed to show up on Capitol Hill today despite being issued a subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee. She is the attorney for former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and described as “a key witness” in the House’s oversight of the Dept. of Justice’s decision to curtail investigations on Hillary Clinton in the run up to the 2016 presidential election.

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Virginia Congressman Bob Goodlatte, tweeted out the below meme this afternoon after Page was a no show.

That’s pretty funny.

Refusing to honor a subpoena is not funny. The House released a statement, linked here, explaining that Page’s excuses for her absence do not “hold water.”

In response to the claim of not having enough time to prepare for the interview, Rep. Ted Pope said, “As a former Judge, I’ve always wondered why any witness has to ‘prepare’ to tell the truth!” Well said.

It is unclear right now what the next step is after today’s no show, which may include the possibility of Page being held in contempt.
