If You Believed They Put A Man On The Moon

“Now, Andy did you hear about this one?”

On this day 50 years ago man first stepped on a sound stage in Burbank, CA…..

Just joking. I like to pretend to believe in Flat Earth because I find it funny, but the whole conspiracy theory nonsense about political pressure forced the US government to fake the moon landing so that we could stick it to the Soviets has always been garbage to me.

The space race was a proxy war against the Soviets. It was democracy versus communism, liberty versus tyranny, free markets versus state-control. Two of the world’s nuclear arsenals sat in wait as our astronauts fought the cosmonauts as single combat warriors the likes we haven’t had since Biblical times. The prize was the moon.

We won. Communism lost.

I break from my hard conservative colleagues when I talk about the importance NASA has been and could continue to be for this great country. We need to fund them. I love the private sector and Space X is great, but it matters a lot to me that Neil Armstrong put an American flag on the moon, not a Virgin Atlantic flag.

Recently NBA star Steph Curry said he doesn’t believe we landed on the moon. Ok. I like Kyrie Irving more anyway (he believes in Flat Earth).

Today is a great day to celebrate. It is a day to celebrate innovation and technology, but it is just as much a day to celebrate the United States of America and all the wonderful freedoms we stand for.

And shout out to R.E.M.
