E.W. Jackson Qualifies For The US Senate Primary Ballot

Conservative candidate E.W. Jackson has turned in the required number of signatures for his name to appear on the 2018 Republican Party primary ballot for US Senate.

Ballot access for US Senate is no easy task. A candidate must have at least 10,000 signatures from across the commonwealth which must include at least 400 from each of Virginia’s 11 congressional districts.

This process is meant to be a high hurdle. Only serious candidates should appear on the ballot. Accomplishing ballot access illustrates that a campaign is well-organized, has support from more than just one region, and is ready to go the long haul should they win the primary.

Jackson joins Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart and Delegate Nick Freitas. Both Stewart and Freitas filed on the first day, which is very impressive, in what is called a simultaneous filing, which means the Virginia State Board of Elections will determine the order of those two names at a later date. Jackson’s name will appear third. We hear conflicting messages on whether or not a fourth candidate will make the cut. The deadline to file is Thursday of this week.

The Republican primary field for US Senate will be set by next week. The state-run primary will take place on Tuesday June 12. Stay tuned.
