PWC School Board Censures Their Own Chairman for Ethics Violations

Prince William County School Board Chairman Ryan Sawyers was censured last night by his fellow School Board members for ethics violations. The vote was 4 to 2. Sawyers is a Democrat.

The Resolution that passed stated the following:

“The Prince William County School Board censures Chairman at Large Ryan Sawyers for multiple and egregious violations of the Prince William County School Board Code of Ethics.”

The ethics code violations cited in the Resolution are “Prince William County Code of Ethics, sections 2 and 13 8 (PWCSB, 2016).” This all comes as a result of Sawyers disclosing confidential information.

In a statement released by Prince William County Republican Committee, their chairman Dottie Miller said, “Tonight’s bipartisan censure of Ryan Sawyers is a courageous move by this Democrat-controlled School Board and a historic reprimand for his reckless abuse of authority.”

Sawyers plans to run next year as a Democrat against Republican Congressman Rob Wittman. Ethics violations are never a good way to launch a campaign for higher office.
