On this day in 1933 prohibition ended as the 21st Amendment was ratified. The Amendment repealed the 18th Amendment, which had outlawed alcohol.
Virginia ratified the 21st Amendment on October 25, 1933, but the three-fourths needed to pass the Amendment was not reached until December 5, 1933 when Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Utah all ratified on the same day.
