Securing America’s Future Act of 2018 (HR 4760), sponsored by Rep. Bob Goodlatte, failed today on a vote of 231 to 193. No Democrat voted for the bill. Every Republican from Virginia voted for it except for Rep. Barbara Comstock.
The bill was designed to “To amend the immigration laws and the homeland security laws, and for other purposes.” Here is a link to the full text.
This compromise was not a bad bill. It should not have had such a hard partisan divide, but not one Democrat voted for it. This is disappointing.
And once again, Comstock joined Rep. Nancy Pelosi instead of voting with her Virginia Republican delegation of Reps. Rob Wittman, Scott Taylor, Tom Garrett, Bob Goodlatte, Dave Brat, and Morgan Griffith.
